Child abuse
ZiuZ solutions have been used extensively by the Dutch Juvenile and Vice Squad since 2002. In fact, the investigation of child abuse material is central to the products ZiuZ develops for the Dutch police.
ZiuZ not only understands the technology involved in video and algorithm calculations, but is also socially engaged in combating child abuse. Through intensive collaboration with the police forces, ZiuZ has cultivated an understanding and insight of the police investigative process. This enables it to develop products that closely meet the needs of the workplace. The combination of a good product, knowledge of the working situation and a genuine interest has contributed to ZiuZ products becoming standard use in the Dutch police and used in England, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Norway and Sweden.
The Dutch Ministry of Justice has designated ZiuZ software as standard use within the Dutch Police in the fight against child exploitation.
Forensic video analysis
Video material plays an important role in police forensic investigations. When solving crimes, it is not only the material from observation teams that play a role, but also videos from petrol stations and shopping centres. These video images need to be viewed and analysed, but the process is time-consuming. Viewing hours of video in which only an entrance or driveway can be seen demands especial attention and concentration skills. The process can be considerably improved using ZiuZ VizXview. The VizXview server uses intelligent algorithms to produce a relevant summary of all the material which can then be analysed by the investigator. The summary is just 5-8% as long as the original footage therefore dramatically increasing efficiency so that more cases can be worked on by just the same number of staff.
