published 26 September 2011
Optical Storage, a Scandinavian niche distributor with offices in Sweden, Norway and
Denmark has acquired ZetStor Data AB, a dedicated supplier of forensic products. Optical
Storage Group turnover in 2010 was approximately 20MUSD. The parent company, the
Norwegian Optical Storage A / S, which next year celebrates its 30th anniversary has
introduced a series of innovation in the Nordic data market. The purchase of ZetStor Data AB
follows this tradition. With this acquisition Optical Storage becomes a key supplier of
hardware and software for an emerging market of products for police, military and civilian IT
forensic investigations.
By this acquisition, Optical Storage expands its product range in forensics covering products in image
and video analysis, disc duplication and CD / DVD / BD seizure. The acquisition of ZetStor
complements its product portfolio with EnCase products from Guidance Software and CRU Data Port.
EnCase products are today a recognized leader and is used by police, security, military and other
organizations. The need for this type of products will not only increase in the public sector, but also
in many large companies and organizations. Several of the major auditing and consulting companies
has established their own IT forensic services to track criminal activity and fraud.
"This will be a product range that we put more focus on, and expands further", says Arve Isaksen -
Chairman and Founder of the Optical Storage AS. "Electronic investigation will be key weapons to
prevent crime, irregular and undesirable actions and we assume that the market will increase by the
fact that the tools of investigation improve".
Optical Storage ambition is ZetStor to become one of the leading suppliers in this segment by
representing leading manufacturers of computer hardware and software and offer expertise and
service.
Optical Storage Group strengthens its focus on IT forensic products and will conduct the
Scandinavian sales of existing IT forensic products by ZetStor Data AB, which will continue to operate
as a separate company and thus become an even stronger player in this niche.
